Awakener's Orb is a currency item. Using it on a "donor" item destroys the item, and allows the player to apply the item's influence to another "receiver" item of the same item class. The second item is then reforged as a rare item with both influence types and new modifiers. In most cases, a single influenced modifier from the donor item is preserved along with a single influenced modifier from the target item. All other mods are randomly rerolled.

Mechanics
Awakener's orbs are spent by right-clicking the orb, left-clicking a donor item, and then left-clicking a target item. The two items must be of the same item type, with different influences. Each item must have exactly one influence. The target item's base type, item level, sockets, and links are retained.
Influence is written/shown in a fixed order from left to right, regardless of the donor/target. In other words, a hunter item donating into a redeemer item[1] arranges the icons the same as a redeemer item donating into a hunter item.[2] The influence icons on the item follow the following order: Shaper > Elder > Crusader > Redeemer > Hunter > Warlord.
One influenced mod (such as a "Shaper's" prefix, or an "Of the Elder" suffix) from each item is guaranteed to merge on the new item, except the case that the two mods are from the same mod group (see paragraph below). The retained mods can be both prefixes, suffixes, or a combination. If an item has two or more influenced mods, one will be selected at random during the merging process.
Notably, some mods (such as Elder and Redeemer Flasks applied to you have #% increased Effect, Shaper and Redeemer x% reduced Mana Reserved, etc.) are mutually exclusive and one will be discarded at random.[3][4][5] This exclusivity rule appears to depend on the ModGroup attribute found on datamined websites such as poedb.tw and POE wiki (e.g. all curse on hit explicit mods on ring are in group "CurseOnHitLevel" as shown in their wiki articles or the mod entries in the wiki that start with Modifier prefix), where the two merged mods cannot share the same ModGroup. It is unclear whether additional, non-ModGroup exclusivity rules exist as this information is not available within the game client.
Modifiers transferred in this way will retain their modifier tier, but the specific value roll within that tier may change.
It is possible to use an Imprint to roll back the use of an Awakener's Orb. The imprint can only be applied to the recipient item, not the donor item that is destroyed.
It is not possible to use an Awakener's Orb on corrupted items; both the donor item and the base item must be uncorrupted.
Certain aspects of this process are deterministic (as previewed through a Hinekora's LockHinekora's LockStack Size: 10Allows an item to foresee the result of the next Currency item used on it Modifying the item in any way removes the ability to foreseeRight click this item then left click an item to apply it.)[6]:
The influenced modifier kept from the receiver item will never change even if the donor item is changed, regardless of the number of influenced modifiers on the receiver item.
The specific random modifiers rolled are determined by the number of influence prefixes and suffixes on the donor item against a specific receiver item.
If a random modifier rolled on the resulting item is part of the base modifier pool or the receiver item's influence pool, using a different item of a different influence and the same number of influence prefixes/suffixes will almost always result in the same modifier regardless of the donor base used, as long as the number of influence prefixes/suffixes on the donor item are the same.
If a random modifier rolled on the resulting item is part of the donor item's influence pool, using a different item of a different influence and the same number of influence prefixes/suffixes will almost always result in a similar modifier from the new influence pool. For example, if a Crusader 1 influence mod donor causes the result to randomly roll #% increased Intelligence, a Warlord 1 influence mod donor would almost always result in it rolling #% increased Strength instead.
